By Play the GameIn a keynote session during the sport management conference EASM 2012 taking place in Aalborg, Denmark last month, two of the main characters in FIFA's ongoing reform process Professor Mark Pieth and Dr. Theo Zwanziger met under the headline 'Democracy and transparency'.
In the keynote session Professor Mark Pieth, head of FIFA’s Independent Governance Committee expressed the need for public pressure in order to keep the reform process on track, a process that is met with significant opposition within the organisation, he said.
At the FIFA executive committee meeting last week, FIFA president Sepp Blatter, dismissed the comments made by Pieth in Denmark, insisting that there is no resistance towards the reforms from the executive committee.
