Top speakers announced for Challenges for Football conference

Both officials and scientists as well as fan and player organisations will be represented when the conference Challenges for Football is launched on 20th June, just 5 days before the U/21 Final is played.

The conference will strech over two days and follow four tracks each presenting an impressive line-up of speakers.

Joining Andrea Traverso, UEFA's Head of Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play in the opening session, will be renowned sports economist Stefan Szymanski from CASS, who is the latest speaker to confirm his attendance.

UEFA will also be represented by Andy Roxburgh, Tecnical Director, who will be giving a speach on the strategies, priorities and results of UEFA's programmes to develop football for all in Europe.

Thus initiated, the conference will go on to discuss football regulation with presentations from Mathieu Moreuil, Head of European Public Policy at the UK Premier League, Head of European Development at Supporters Direct Antonia Hageman and FiFPro board Member Mads Øland among others.

The second track on the Perfect player features talks from Manchester United consultant, Warren Gregson and Professor Jens Bangsbo from Copenhagen University.

Before the closing session of the conference featuring UEFA's Andy Roxburgh, the two themes health and technology/innovation will be thouroughly discussed.

Associate Professor at Copenhagen University Peter Krustrup will be outlining the main results of a huge research programme into the health enhancing potential of football and Lars Kruse from the Danish initiative The football factory, will talk about new ways of making football more attractive for leisure players, only to name a few of the speakers representing the health track at the conference.

Speaking about technology and innovation in football will be a line-up of speakers from media and educational institutions all representing new ways of looking at the popular sport.
