    By appointing 11 out of 15 new names, the board of Play the Game has carried out the biggest make-over of its Programme Committee in more than a decade. A blend of international experts in sports science, media, business and politics will in the coming year contribute with “advice regarding which themes and speakers appear on the programme of the international conferences” as the statutes of the institution lay down.

    After two successful visits to Iceland and the United Kingdom, Play the Game is now returning to the European mainland. Last week an agreement was settled by which the German Sport University Cologne – the biggest of its kind in Europe – takes on the role of hosting the 7th edition of the Play the Game world communication conference on sport and society.

    After more than 13 years at the helm of Play the Game Jens Sejer Andersen has decided to leave his post as director, but he remains at Play the Game’s disposal for another non- executive position.

    After lasts year’s successful conference in Coventry, bidders have lined up to host the seventh edition of Play the Game, which will take place in 2011. The conference is known as the only international meeting-place where sport’s top officials, experts and media people meet for unrestricted debate on doping, corruption, sedentary lifestyle, sport in developing countries and other challenges to sport.
