'Goal! Soccer for a better future' is a 26 minutes documentary made by the U.S. Department of State.

The documentary shows how six organisations use football to engage and empower disadvantaged youth in South America, South Africa and the United States. Watch it on streetfootballworld.org.

A long row of athletes, such as the South African football star Lucas Radebe and Brazilian Carlos Alberto Torres share their personal stories of the importance of sport for dialogue and life skills.

More than football
The documentary is made by Jason Katz, who wanted to make a film about how young people could be tought values and life skills that would improve not only their personal experience but also that of their communities.

“I did not set out to make a soccer film at first. It was during my research that I discovered sport and youth development and how extraordinarily effective it can be,” he said.

“Kids were engaged on a level that only happens when we speak their language and enter their world of play.”

Tolerance, diversity, gender equality, teamwork
The documentary is split up in four parts: Tolerance, Diversity, Gender Equality and Teamwork. Streetfootballworld will feature one part each week.

See the first part about tolerance below and visit streetfootballworld.org for more information and to watch the next parts of the documentary.
