25.06.2009

Outgoing Liverpool CEO Rick Parry will head a new sporting betting integrity panel, the UK government Department for Culture, Media and Sport announced yesterday.

Parry announced in February that he would be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season, and has been appointed to lead the panel by sports minister Gerry Sutcliffe.

The panel will include members the betting industry, police, players, fans, sports governing bodies, the legal profession and the Gambling Commission, and will assess rules on gambling and examine the scale of risk to sport’s integrity through betting corruption.
