Chelsea gets transfer ban

03.09.2009

Chelsea has been found guilty of leading to a breach of contract between French player Gael Kakuta and his club Lens, when Kakuta joined Chelsea in 2007.

A statement on FIFA's website says: ""Chelsea is banned from registering any new players for the two next registration periods."

In addition to the ban, Chelsea is to pay a "training compensation" of 130,000 Euros to Lens and Kakuta has been banned from any official matches for four month.

The Premier League club can appeal the decision to the Court of Arbitration of Sport in Lausanne.
