Abstract submission deadline extended

In light of the high quality of abstracts and storylines recieved thus far, Play the Game has decided to extend the submission deadline for presentation submissions for our 2009 conference until 31 March 2009, 15:00 CET.

Play the Game 2009, which will run from 8 - 12 June 2009, will examine issues relating to sport and society.

Conference themes
The conference will operate under the sub-heading 'visions for sport in times of crisis'.

Conference presentations are requested for the following main themes:

  • Ethics in governance: Will sports federations come clean?

  • Between Beijing and London: Mega-events as drivers of development

  • Business battles: The power struggles in football

  • Match-fixing: A blow to the core of sport

  • Terrible teenagers? Sport’s quest for the hearts and minds of the youth

  • Anti-Doping: Will the technological arms race come to an end?

  • Paralympic athletes: More different than the rest?

  • Sport for the Good: What is it good for?

There will also be an open forum for accepted presentation suggestions that do not fall under the main conference themes.
