English FA Cup becoming irrelevant to fans
Research carried out at Coventry University suggests that the FA Cup, the oldest football competition in the world, is becoming irrelevant to fans. The FA Cup, now famous for ‘giant-killings’ with small teams triumphing over larger rivals, has now become dominated by the Premiership’s big four, reducing the charm of the competition for supporters.

European Association for Sport Management Conference 2008 - Call for Papers
The EASM invites researchers to submit work for presentation at the 2008 EASM Conference. The theme of the conference is “Management at the Heart of Sport” and abstracts from researchers in all disciplines of sports management are welcome to address this subject.

The conference is being organised by the University of Bayreuth, the University of Heidelberg and the University of Applied Sciences Heidelberg, the conference runs from 10 to 13 September 2008. 

The deadline for abstracts is 28 March 2008.

Additionally, the EASM has announced the creation of a new researchers award for the best original theoretical or conceptual advance and significant unpublished contribution in sport management. To be eligible for the award, researchers must be near the completion of a PhD or have graduated within the past three years.

Conference - “To remember is to resist:” 40 Years of Sport and Social Change, 1968-2008
40 years after Mexico City, Paris, and Prague, and 80 days before the Beijing Games, the Faculty of Physical Education and Health, the Centre for Sport Policy Studies, and New College at the University of Toronto are pleased to host a three-day conference on sport and social change to be held in Toronto, Canada, on 20 to 22 May 2008.

The conference will bring together academics and activists, practitioners and academics, including scholars from a variety of disciplines and perspectives whose research interests touch upon issues of sport and physical activity, human rights and social change.
