Play the Game delegates to visit famous USOPC training hub
If the inconceivable should happen: that some delegates get exhausted by the amount of words, facts and debates during Play the Game 2019 - they will enjoy a moment of relief and liberation when busses gather in front of the conference venue on Tuesday 14 October to take them to a place where sport in its physical sense still matters.
Thanks to support from the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee, all conference delegates are offered a free tour to the Colorado Springs Olympic & Paralympic Training Center, the central venue for elite athletes from nine Olympic and Paralympic sports.
The tour to the training center includes:
- Welcome and introduction to the center
- Guided VIP tour with Olympic athletes
- Buffet dinner
- Panel discussion about the American Development Model
- A variety of sport demonstrations at the premises. Remember to wear casual or clothes suitable for the activities you may wish to join.
The local organisers from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs (UCCS), are in the process of caring for the details of the visit. It should, however, be certain, that inspiration and information will be shared by professor emeritus Jay Coakley, UCCS, Patrick McHenry, Director of Strength and Conditioning at the nearby Castle View High School, and Tom Farrey, journalist and founder of Project Play at the Aspen Institute in Colorado.
Participation is free for registered participants, but it is compulsory to make a special registration for the tour. The registration link is available when you register for the conference.
