Kuwait Olympic Committee suspended

05.01.2010

By Play the Game
The International Olympic Committee has suspended the National Olympic Committee of Kuwait over government interference. The suspension was effective from January 1 2010.

The IOC had given Kuwait until December 31 2009 to make plans for changing national legislation from 2007 letting public authorities interfere with sports organisations. According to Sport Business, the IOC Executive Board “will not be able to envisage lifting this suspension until the agreements signed are respected and put into effect”.
