Jules Boykoff

Jules Boykoff is the author of three books on the politics of the Olympic Games – Power Games: A Political History of the Olympics (Verso 2016), Activism and the Olympics: Dissent at the Games in Vancouver and London (Rutgers University Press 2014), and Celebration Capitalism and the Olympic Games (Routledge 2013).
His scholarly writing has appeared in publications such as the International Journal of the History of Sport, Contemporary Social Science, Sport in Society, and Olympika: The International Journal of Olympic Studies. He has also written on the politics of sports for places like the Guardian, the New York Times, New Left Review, the Los Angeles Times, and Jacobin. In 2015 he was a Fulbright Research Fellow in Rio de Janeiro as the city prepared to host the 2016 Summer Olympics.
A former professional soccer player who represented the US Olympic Team in international competition, he currently teaches politics at Pacific University in Oregon, USA. More information – and links to his work – available at: www.julesboykoff.org
