CV Dr David Hindley is a Senior Lecturer in Sports Coaching and Subject Leader for Sports Education in the School of Science and Technology, Nottingham Trent University. He received his PhD from Loughborough University in 2002. The doctoral thesis concerned the utility of governance in a sporting context, focusing on football, cricket and swimming. From this, and later work looking at supporter democracy and the community role of football clubs, he has published in journals and books. His current research interests include the application of CSR in professional football, and the challenges of monitoring and evaluating sport-based social inclusion schemes. David is also Vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees of Notts County Football in the Community, a club which he has followed for over 25 years, and through his involvement with Notts County Supporters’ Trust led him to become the club’s first Supporter Director in 2003.
