CV Knut Helland is Professor of Media Studies at the Dept. of Information Science and Media Studies, University of Bergen, Norway, and a Visiting Professor in Media and Journalism at the University of Stavanger, Norway. Among his research interests are news and journalism, and relations between sports and the media. He holds a PhD from the Centre for Mass Communication Research, University of Leicester (1994). Since 2000 he has been a Nordic correspondent for literature reviews in European Journal of Communication. He has also been head of the National Council of Media Studies, and has had a number other assignments related to research and research policies in Scandinavia
